Our wine
The quality of our wine stems from the vineyards, our attention to detail, and our recognition of site and vintage variation. After much time and effort, our grapes are handpicked and taken to our small-batch, gravity-flow winery, where they are transformed into wines which reflect their origin – their terroir.
Our vineyard
Planted by Claudio Alcorso in 1958 and producing its first crop in 1962, our 2012 vintage marked fifty years of onsite winemaking. Our vineyards are naturally low-yielding and the fruit, due to the cooler growing seasons, ripens at a slower rate. These conditions, along with low annual rainfall, are at the core of a complex system emphasising wine structure through both a natural balance of acidity, phenolics, and integrated aromatics and flavours.
Winemaker
Conor van der Reest is originally from Canada. He has studied and worked extensively in both old and new wine regions. His approach is to combine the best of both; to create complex and structural varietal wines that represent the vineyard from which they came. His observation that our vineyards are diverse enough to offer both old and new world profiles has seen the emergence of our double series – Muse and Praxis.
Muse series
Blended with an old-world philosophy, these wines are integrated and balanced, presenting a more complex spectrum of flavour and aroma – ideally suitable for maturation.
Praxis series
Capitalising on new-world potential, the wines in this series have been blended to show bold, fruity characters and are enjoyed best in their youth.

We love Riesling. It was the first varietal the Alcorso family planted at Moorilla, and his been our signature white ever since.
